01Proposition
What Slots at Sea does.
Slots at Sea is a specialist information business for an underserved corner of cruise travel: clear, organized information about cruise ship casinos.
It helps travelers understand the games, rewards programs, ship facilities and policies before they sail, across ten cruise lines, and helps them “find the program that rewards the way you play.” It is an independent informational website: it doesn’t offer gambling and isn’t affiliated with any cruise line.
02The problem
The customer and the need.
The customer problem
For passengers who play in a ship’s casino, the details that matter are hard to find. Cruise lines rarely publish per-ship casino figures, payback rates aren’t published, and rewards programs differ by line and change often.
What information exists is scattered across forums, player videos and promotional pages, often undated and rarely sourced, so passengers can’t easily compare ships, programs or offers.
Who it serves
Cruise passengers who play slots, video poker or table games, from occasional players to members of cruise casino rewards programs, including people choosing a line or ship, comparing loyalty programs, or working out how to earn their first offer. The guides cover practical cases such as UK residents, younger passengers on itineraries with different age rules, and smoke-free casinos.
03Product
The product in use.
- Cruise line guides for Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Carnival, Norwegian, Virgin Voyages, MSC, Princess, Holland America, Margaritaville at Sea and Explora, plus notes on other lines.
- Ship profiles for 169 ships, with slot machines, table games, casino size and where each figure came from.
- Program comparison of nine casino rewards programs side by side: earning rates, tiers, fees, UK rules, age rules and smoking.
- Slot library of 77 games from 11 makers, with dated, sourced sightings on ships.
- Decision tools, including a rewards finder that estimates the points, status and perks a player would earn with each line, and what the casino expects them to lose.
- Guides on game math, comps, drinks, casino hosts, land casino partnerships and taxes, and free member accounts for tracking cruises, sessions, points and offers.

04Opportunity and technology
Why it can win.
The opportunity
Cruise casino players make recurring, considered decisions about which line to sail, which program to join and which offer to take, and no broad travel platform covers them in depth. Information like this is costly to assemble and to keep current, which is what makes it valuable.
In our view, a trusted reference that is clear about its sources can support several business models over time, such as membership and tools, while staying independent.
Technology
Slots at Sea runs on Cloudflare’s network: static, fast-loading guides and profiles, with a database behind the member accounts, the slot library and the tools. The rewards finder weights status, per-cruise value and cruise rewards, then adjusts for factors such as smoke-free casinos, fees, UK eligibility and age rules. Members can export or delete all of their data.
05Trust
Research approach and information freshness
Casino details vary by ship and change over time, so Slots at Sea is explicit about what it knows and how it knows it.
- Every figure has a source quality. Each ship profile is labeled Official (from the cruise line), Reported (from third-party sources), Mixed, or Not published, “because cruise lines rarely publish per-ship counts.” Of 169 ships, 6 are official, 71 reported, 27 mixed and 65 not published.
- Dated and sourced. Pages state when the information was last checked, and each ship and cruise line lists its dated sources, including figures that were rejected.
- Honest caveats. “Casino layouts change during refits, so treat counts as a guide,” and travelers are asked to confirm details with the cruise line before sailing.
- Independent and responsible. Slots at Sea isn’t affiliated with any cruise line, nothing on it is gambling advice, and every page points to help for problem gambling.
